Busy Quilts – Session 2

June 24, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Sometimes known as a ‘fidget’ or ‘fiddle quilt’, these activity blankets provide hand and mind therapy for people living with the disease. Zippers, ribbons, buckles and snaps, along with textured material aid in the sensory and tactile stimulation for those who may be restless.

On two Saturdays, June 17th and June 24th, from 11 am – 3 pm the Museum classroom will open it’s doors for experienced participants to assist in the construction of these quilts. Take-away packaged items are also available for those who can only drop in. Once complete, these quilts will be distributed to those in need in our community. This program, in conjunction with summer exhibition Jason Bard Yarmosky: Somewhere, is free and one of several programs sponsored by St. Joseph Healthcare.

Please contact Museum Educator Kat Johnson at 581.3360 or email kat.johnson@maine.edu for more details.
