Member’s Preview: May 18, 2017 5:00-7:00 pm
The University of Maine Museum of Art recently closed the fourth season of the Young Curators program for youth ages 11-17. In this program, students get a behind the scenes look at the inner workings of an art museum. The Young Curators met one afternoon a week during the months of May and June. Participants selected art work from UMMA’s permanent collection for the summer exhibitions. Young Curators developed a theme for their show, researched and wrote didactic materials for Museum patrons and presented their work at the Member’s Preview opening reception. Participants also met with all members of the staff to learn about museum careers. Applications for the Spring 2017 session can be found here.
Application deadline: February 17th, 2017
There is no cost to join the Young Curators but participants are selected through an application process as space is limited. The application requires a short essay and teacher recommendation.
